in the installation manual you quote :-

SkyElite can be auto-started every time that Microsoft Flight Simulator is executed. There is a
file in XML format to set this up in the simulator LocalCache subfolder folder:

I do not have a " exe.xml " in that folder.

Not sure if just sending my files will work, this is a simulator feature and nothing to do with skyelite. But we will try.

Do this with the sim closed, not running.

Not sure if this will work only by dropping the file and starting the sim, in my setup the file was there from the beginning and worked and lot of users mention this file in their installs.

If this does not work you will have to google this on the internet, because I don't have additional info about how Microsoft installs this feature.

The folders should be...

For the Windows Store install:

C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Packages\ Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\

For the Steam install:

C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightDashboard_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\

But I never tested this with the Steam version.

It seems that both folders do not exist on my system.

I am quite used to using and modifying/editing installations of FSX, P3D, and X-Plane.

Have posted on the MSFS and the Steam forums asking about the location of exe.xml in the Steam installation.

The folder they report is: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

Try to check if there is another folder at C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft for the new MSFS

Another clue, just in case:

My exe.xml file is in the same folder where this file is: FlightSimulator.CFG

Probably is a good idea to try to find the file FlightSimulator.CFG in your disk/s and maybe that gives you the location of the folder.

Have already tried the location: C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator.

My folder already contains 'FlightSimulator.CFG' and 'SimConnect.xml'.

Used the exe.xml provided by you and carefully edited the path to match the location of SkyElite.exe to match my installation. MSFS does not seem to recognize the exe.xml, etc.

Just for information, I have SkyElite installed on H: but also have MSFS installed on H:.

Otherwise Sky Elite works fine and worth the money. 🙂

You could send me the exe.xml plus the SimConnect.xml files to the support email, maybe I can have a look and check if there is any flag missing. Maybe the issue is in SimConnect.xml

I already answered to your mail.

I also wanted to give your this information, just in case it helps.

There is this file: "C:\Users\......\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\simconnect.ini"

You can edit and set this:
[SimConnect]
level=Verbose
file=c:\SimConnect%03u.log

Setting level to Verbose populates de indicated file, setting level=off disables de log file.

This will show in the indicated file a set of messages from the simconnect interface, hopefully something about the exe.xml issues.

Fix found:

[This fix has been confirmed by the user, it works]

SkyElite needs administrator privileges to run, then if MSFS is not executed as administrator, the exe.xml will not be able to launch it.

Running MSFS as administrator works very well:

1. Right click on MSFS icon and run as administrator or...
2. Create an shortcut to MSFS and then set the advance options of the shortcut to run always as admin.

I will try to make this easier, so far this is the workaround.

To autorun external programs such as SkyElite when loading Flight Simulator (Steam version):

1) Using the Steam installation of Flight Simulator.
2) The location of SkyElite will differ depending on your installation.
3) The location of exe.xml (for Steam installation): C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator
4) XXXX in (3) should match your username, etc.
5) Set all programs to run as Administrator:

A) The SkyElite floating menu will appear over the Flight Simulator windows.
B) If you are opening the PFD on a browser on the same PC just click on the required option.
C) If opening the PDF in a browser on a different PC then just click the top line of the floating menu to make the floating menu disappear.

NOTE: The <CommandLine>/autoclose</CommandLine> entry does not seem to work for other applications such as REX Weather Force and they have to be closed manually.
